Now that our Paediatric Clinical Neuropsychology assessment service is routinely sought out by Tusla as they try to better understand and meet the complex needs of some of the most vulnerable children and young people in their care, and now that we have added a highly regarded and child-focussed Senior Occupational Therapist to our team, we are ready to establish our first Children’s Residential Centre.*

In fact, preparations for our new service are well underway.  And while this may be Care Squared’s first centre, we are actually very experienced and more than qualified to provide this type of care. In fact, our founding director both designed and delivered Tusla’s landmark national residential service for children and young people back in 2013 – bringing together all centres, from all sectors into a single, cohesive governance structure that continues to oversee all residential placements in Ireland today.

Having said that, we don’t expect that caring for vulnerable children and young people in care will be easy or straight forward. It never is. In fact, we expect to struggle sometimes and to make mistakes – mistakes we will own, learn from and work hard to never repeat. We are committed to giving our best today, and better tomorrow.

Blending a compassionate and recognised model of care with our director’s unique approach to delivering that care together with the invaluable guidance and support our clinical team provides, we intend to do everything we can to keep safe and care for the children and young people in our centres – enthusiastically modelling the joyful business of living as we do.

We understand and respect the Social Work role, and that of the Guardian ad Litem, and will work equally hard to provide the service to them that they need as we care for the children and young people they place in our service.  

When our centre is ready to take placements, we will only accept referrals from Tusla’s National Placement Team and will work closely with them, with parents and family members, and with every other professional helping us to look after the children and young people in our care.

To work with us you will need to meet the criteria set out by Tusla’s Alternative Care and Inspection and Monitoring Service (ACIMS) for Social Care Workers. ** You will also need compassion, energy, a willingness to learn and to share your love of life with the vulnerable children and young people your care.

 Prepare for your future

Anyone who is selected to become part of our team who wishes to do so, will receive formal training over a two-year period from our director in every aspect of residential service provision – dramatically accelerating the path toward management / senior management for those who seek a successful career in residential service provision.  We call this course, ‘Constructing Care’ and will be providing more information about it on our website soon.
